This kitchen remodel was a designer’s dream, working with clients who are passionate about cooking but knew their current space wasn’t meeting their needs. Although they couldn’t quite envision how to reconfigure the layout for optimal functionality, they were thrilled once we sketched out the possibilities.
The home is nestled on beautifully maintained acreage, but the original kitchen lacked windows to appreciate the stunning surroundings. By relocating large appliances to create a dedicated appliance wall, we seized the opportunity to install two expansive picture windows that now frame the picturesque landscape and showcase the clients’ meticulous yard work.
This design incorporates an array of highly functional lower cabinets, including:
- Two pop-up mixer stands
- Spice rack and utensil rack
- Pull-out pantry shelves
- Automated garbage and recycling bins
- Rack organizers and spirits rack
Aesthetic elements like specialty glass doors, toe kick valances, plant on doors, and cladded appliances add visual complexity and elegance to the space.
To provide ample room for multiple cooks to maneuver comfortably around the new island, we extended the exterior wall by two feet. While this increased the budget, it was a worthwhile investment, as the generous walkways on either side greatly enhance the kitchen’s functionality and flow.
Leveraging our clients’ love of food and wine, we converted an awkward space formerly used for a kitchen table and walkthrough into an extension of the kitchen. This area now serves as a bar for wine and spirits, a display for their collections, and a floor-to-ceiling pantry.
To ensure the family room felt as updated as the kitchen in this open concept layout, we replaced the fireplace with a modern gas version flanked by cabinetry in colors that seamlessly blend with the kitchen palette. The result is a cohesive space perfect for entertaining.
Not only was this a dream project, but the clients were an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the process!
