We believe every remodel tells a story—one of transformation, functionality, and beauty. Our recent kitchen remodel in the charming Sunset Hill neighborhood of Ballard is no exception. This project showcases how thoughtful design and expert craftsmanship can redefine a space, blending modern convenience with timeless elegance.
A Bold New Layout for Seamless Living
The first step in this remodel was reimagining the main floor layout. To create a more open and functional flow, we flipped the kitchen’s location to the front of the home. This change not only optimized the use of space but also allowed us to connect the kitchen directly to the outdoor deck. A stunning full-light glass folding door now provides seamless access between indoor and outdoor living spaces, perfect for entertaining or enjoying Seattle’s breathtaking sunsets.
The Heart of the Home: A Dream Kitchen
The centerpiece of this remodel is undoubtedly the kitchen itself. We designed a large island that serves as both a functional workspace and a gathering spot for family and friends. With ample seating, a built-in beverage cooler, and abundant cabinetry, this island is as practical as it is inviting.
Custom cabinetry plays a starring role in this design. The sophisticated combination of natural wood tones and bright white finishes creates a warm yet contemporary aesthetic. Every detail was considered, from the custom-built hood fan wrap to the full-height backsplash that frames both the pot filler and window—a striking focal point that adds character to the space.
The kitchen also features panel-ready appliances, ensuring that the Sub-Zero refrigerator and dishwasher blend seamlessly into the cabinetry for a clean, cohesive look. Adding to the elegance is a show-stopping light fixture that ties everything together, its gold accents harmonizing beautifully with the cabinet pulls and subtle details in the granite countertops.
A Butler’s Pantry with Style and Function
Beyond the pocket door lies another gem of this remodel: a thoughtfully designed Butler’s pantry. This space extends the kitchen’s functionality while maintaining its luxurious aesthetic. Full-height granite surfaces and custom open shelving provide both beauty and practicality, offering ample room to display glassware or store essentials.
The Butler’s pantry also includes a large sink, dishwasher, and a spacious pantry with pull-out shelves for effortless organization. A lovely wallpaper accent adds personality to this hidden oasis, tying into the powder bath on the same level for a cohesive design throughout.
